BiotaGen® by Klaire LabsTM is a versatile prebiotic fiber supplement that combines inulin fiber from chicory root with other dietary fibers to optimize digestive health and immune function.†
Specific types of soluble dietary fiber, known as prebiotics, support the growth and activity of health-promoting bacteria (probiotics) found in the gastrointestinal tract.† Normally, the human gastrointestinal tract is populated by hundreds of different species of probiotic bacteria that support healthy gastrointestinal function and promote health.† Because they are a dietary fiber, prebiotics are not digested and absorbed but arrive largely intact in the colon where they can exert their supportive effects.† What distinguishes prebiotics from other forms of fiber is that prebiotics are selectively used as a food source for probiotic bacteria like Lactobacilli or Bifidobacteria, forms of probiotics that are found in the digestive tract as well as in probiotic dietary supplements and foods such as yogurt. Emerging research suggests prebiotics may play other supportive roles in the body, including support of immune function, bowel regularity, integrity of the digestive gut barrier, mineral absorption, blood lipid balance, and defense against unfavorable bacteria.† BiotaGen® contains the following:
• Inulin: Inulin-type fructan prebiotics are commonly found in chicory root, onions, asparagus, bananas, garlic, and leeks. Inulin is used as a food source by probiotic bacteria (especially bifidobacteria), which ferment them into short-chain fatty acids. Short-chain fatty acids are an important fuel for the cells that line the intestines (colonocytes). They also support healthy intestinal pH, enhance the absorption of essential minerals (such as calcium and magnesium) in the colon, assist intestinal reabsorption of water, and enhance intestinal barrier function.† In addition, by promoting the proliferation of healthful bifidobacteria, inulin-type fructans may help increase fecal bulk and optimize stool consistency.† • Larch arabinogalactan: Larch arabinogalactan (from Larix occidentalis, commonly known as the larch tree), is a unique type of soluble dietary fiber shown to support immune function.† Arabinogalactan can also be found in numerous other plants including carrots, radishes, and tomatoes, as well as many medicinal herbs. Research indicates arabinogalactan supports the growth of beneficial Lactobacillus bacteria and may increase short-chain fatty acid production.† • Beta-glucan: Beta-glucan is a type of soluble dietary fiber that is found in baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), oats and barley fiber, and mushrooms. Research suggests that beta-glucan has immune-supportive properties and may also support the immune response to unfavorable forms of yeast and bacteria.† This product provides beta-glucan from purified Saccharomyces cerevisiae. BiotaGen® is free of the following common allergens: milk/casein, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, gluten, soybeans, and corn. Contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
